India’s Leander Paes and Swiss Martina Hingis won the mixed-doubles title of 2015 Australian Open on 1 February 2015. They defeated third seeds Daniel Nestor and Kristina Mladenovic by 6-4, 6-3 in the final. With this win, both Paes and Hingis have now won similar number of Grand Slam titles respectively. What is this identical number of Grand Slam title wins for both?
  • Fifteen
    Leander Paes has won seven mixed doubles titles and eight doubles Grand Slam titles in his illustrious career. On the other hand Martina Hingis, who came out of retirement for the second time a couple of years back, has now won her tenth doubles Grand Slam apart from her five singles titles. Hingis was a top singles player during her prime and had won three singles Australian Open titles.

  • Fresh probe into these riots through a Special Investigation Team (SIT)
    The Justice Mathur committee was constituted by the government on 23 December 2014 to examine the possibility of reinvestigation of anti-Sikh riots cases through an SIT. The committee has recommended constitution of an SIT for reinvestigation the riots. The anti-Sikh riots were triggered after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by on 31 October 1984. Of the 3,325 victims, 2,733 were killed in Delhi alone while the rest were from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and other States. On 10 December 2014, the government had approved a proposal to give an additional compensation of Rs. 5 lakh each to the kin of victims of these riots.
