    Kidambi Srikanth shocked five time world champion and two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan of China, who was also the home favourite, by 21-19, 21-17 to win the title. Lin Dan is considered the greatest badminton player of all time and deemed invincible by all contemporaries. This was the first time that any Indian male shuttler had won a Super Series Premier event ever since the Super Series and Premier tournaments were introduced.
