-
India’s fourth navigation satellite IRNSS-1D has been positioned at its assigned orbit and is in “normal” health,Indian Space Research Organisation said today.
“The health of IRNSS-1D spacecraft is normal. Station acquisition manoeuvres for IRNSS 1D were successfully carried out. The performance is nominal,” ISRO posted on its Facebook page.
IRNSS-1D, launched on March 28, has been positioned at its assigned orbital slot of 111.75 degree with the orbital period being 23 hr 55 min 59 secs. In Orbit Testing of the satellite is in progress, it added.
ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV-C27, successfully launched the 1425 kg IRNSS-1D, the fourth satellite in the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System(IRNSS) on March 28 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) at the spaceport of Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
IRNSS-1D is the fourth of the seven satellites constituting the space segment of the IRNSS.
In the coming months, the next satellite of this constellation, namely, IRNSS-1E, is scheduled to be launched by PSLV, ISRO said.
The entire IRNSS constellation of seven satellites is planned to be completed by 2016, which would make the system on par with the Global Positioning System(GPS) of United States.

Documents reveal Nehru govt shared information on Netaji with Britain’s MI5
-
NEW DELHI: Not only did the Nehru government snoop on Netaji Subhas Bose but also shared confidential information with British intelligence agency MI5. Recently, declassified documents reveal India's Intelligence Bureau shared with MI5 a letter between close Netaji aide AC Nambiar and nephew Amiya Nath Bose acquired through "secret censorship" and even sought more information on the subject.
The MI5 documents have become public at a time when Indian secret documents reveal that the late PM Jawarharlal Nehru had authorized surveillance on freedom fighter Netaji Bose's family including nephews Amiya Bose and Sisir Kumar Bose.
Two letters, written just months after India's independence, are part of 2000 pages of MI5 declassified documents that were made public last year. The documents were accessed by author Anuj Dhar who has spent 15 years researching Bose.
They raise serious questions about the confidentiality of Indian intelligence documents and the security establishment's doubts over Bose and his links with the Axis powers —Germany and Japan. Both nephews Amiya and Sisir, sons of Sarat Chandra Bose were on surveillance, according to the documents.
